December 2012 Wrap-up

Posted: December 31, 2012 in Monthly Wrap-ups

Miniatures Stats December 2012:

Bought for Month:     49                                                 For 2012:     54  +  (194 pro-painted)

Painted for Month:    0                                                 For 2012:     16

I’ll wave the white flag on my pledge for the year a few hours early.

I bought a box of 5 Plastic Soldier Company Sherman M4’s to build.  My 6 year old wants to paint tanks with Daddy so a box of plastics seems a better start than resin or  metal,  besides I had been itching to see for myself just how these little kits are.  I also picked up a box of 44 Gripping Beast plastic Vikings on sale with some vague plans of actually building a SAGA force or two in the coming year.

Painting just never happened in December.  I worked several extra days, was sick over Christmas, and the other holiday festivities took  my extra time.  When I did have an evening,  I was spent enough to not get to the painting table.

Painting Pledge progress (one 25mm equivalent/week) at 52 weeks into the year with 16 minis done leaves me at -36 for the year.

Happy New Year!

Miniatures Stats November 2012:

Bought for Month:     1                                                 For 2012:     5  +  (194 pro-painted)

Painted for Month:    0                                                 For 2012:     16

Received the 1st of my Reaper Bones Kickstarter Pledge.  I’m counting these as purchases when they arrive.

Nothing completed, not sure I even picked up a brush this month.

Painting Pledge progress (one 25mm equivalent/week) at 48 weeks into the year with 16 minis done leaves me at -32 for the year.

Current Reading November 2012

Currently I am Reading:

Pathfinder Adventure Path: Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition published by Pazio Publishing

Since I picked up the rules, I thought I’d grab an adventure path too.  This hardback seemed a good value compared to picking up the individual soft backed modules.

What I’ve finished Reading:

A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin

Finally got this one in, before winter even.  Now the wait for the next book.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook published by Pazio Publishing

Still mulling if this will scratch the roleplaying itch.  I may just dust off my old 2nd edition AD&D books.

October 2012 Wrap-up

Posted: November 1, 2012 in Monthly Wrap-ups

Miniatures Stats October 2012:

Bought for Month:     0                                                 For 2012:     4  +  (194 pro-painted)

Painted for Month:    4                                                 For 2012:     16

I somehow managed to eek out 4 15mm German half-tracks for the month.  On a more positive note, I’m already nearly done with 7 15mm Panzer IV-H after a good day today, so maybe I can climb into the positive territory for  November and get closer to my modest goal for the year.

For the workshop October also was a good month.  I’m down to making the final connections for the sink.  With a couple (aren’t at least 2 trips to the hardware store mandatory for any plumbing project?) trips to the store tomorrow I should wrap that up and have running water in my hobby area.  I’ll then be able to rearrange things and get back to being able to actually work in that space instead of at the kitchen table.

Painting Pledge progress (one 25mm equivalent/week) at 47 weeks into the year with 16 minis done leaves me at -31 for the year.

This will get me caught up with the rest of those waiting for Winter…and the next book.  Apparently Winter has arrived and iced this book over,  I’m still caught in the snow storm and it’s only Fall.

What I’ve finished Reading:

The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper

A re-read of a book  I read as a teen.  Now I understand Sam Clemons comments on Cooper’s work.  Still a good read, just not the adventure I remembered from my youth.  Free on the Kindle.

September 2012 Wrap-up

Posted: October 3, 2012 in Monthly Wrap-ups

Miniatures Stats September 2012:

Bought for Month:     0                                                 For 2012:     4  +  (194 pro-painted)

Painted for Month:    2                                                 For 2012:     12

Added the Bismarck and Prinz Eugen to the fleet this month (1/2400 scale Panzerschiffe sculpts).  I didn’t accomplish much else with the brush through September.   A weekend away and busy with work and family took a bigger bite out of my hobby time than anticipated.   I’ve also been spending time checking out the free-play for the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars MMORPG’s, as well as more than a fair bit of time playing World of Tanks.  For October I need to spend some more time painting tanks instead of playing them.

Painting Pledge progress (one 25mm equivalent/week) at 43 weeks into the year with 12 minis done leaves me at -31 for the year to fall into September.  I was doing well resisting buying models, but I did end up joining the Reaper Kickstarter.  I’ll add those to the tally when they actually arrive.
