Merry Christmas One and All!

Posted: December 25, 2011 in Uncategorized

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!  I had the blessings of enjoying it with my family.  The energy and excitement of a 5 and 2 year old made for a fun and very special day.  Now it is time to settle down for a long winter’s nap.

Current Reading December 2011

I realized I had not updated my reading log since September.  I really haven’t read all that much in the last few months so it’s not a vast update.

Currently I am Reading:

1809 Thunder on the Danube: Napoleon’s Defeat of the Habsburgs  Volume III: Wagram and Znaim by John H. Gill

I finally got around to getting the 3rd and final volume of this excellent history of the 1809 Danube Campaign.  It’s getting my interest in Napoleonics stirred back up, which is good since I have a couple hundred AB’s to paint up.

Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits  by Philip Fisher

This one’s still MIA, it will turn up one of these times.

What I’ve finished Reading:

A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin

I know some have really thought the series was getting out of hand at this point, but I’m still enjoying it plenty.  My one quibble is the author now does seem to be killing off significant characters just to do so, rather than having their deaths advance any sort of plotline.

A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin
A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin

Since October I’ve been making slow but relatively steady progress on finishing out the workshop.  October saw the bench go in.  November brought the formica top to the bench, shelves, trim around the top, and fluorescent lights over the bench surface.  Next up a sink of some sort, then a big rearrangement and reshuffling of storage and stowage.  A big thank-you to my father for doing the majority of the work the last couple of months in between the time I’ve been able to carve out.

Here’s a couple of pictures of the bench space.

I may have to put some spacers under the valence lights so the shelf valence doesn’t cut them off so much.  Here’s one more pic with the overhead lights out.  I’ve got just enought light to work at the bench without having to have the overheads on.

Bench overheads turned off

Good thing I’ve captured this in a picture, it may never be this uncluttered again!

Painted: 0 figs, but did literally finish shelves and trim for the workshop

November is in the books with nothing in the complete mini’s column.  I worked on building a platoon of Battlefront Panther A’s.  I also finished up shelves for over the workbench and trim for around the workbench and got them installed.  See the pics in another post.  For December I’m going to try to make brush meet miniature on the platoon of Battlefront Pz IV-H’s that I have base coated as well as get back to the BloodBowl team that I got a start on early in the fall.
